Unfortunately a lot of the young people here in Europe think, that Elvis is a filmed cartoon character, but in my generation he will never be forgotten untill we die! Someone should invest in a serious in-depth documentary that tells his whole story without all the lies and conjecture circulating on You-tube. Elvis was a real person, with a serious story, and not a fairytale character whose life you can add new chapters to at will! ❤

Unfortunately with all of Red West's knowledge he didn't know why Elvis took prescription drugs. Elvis didn't want him to know or the fans. Elvis was a sick man from birth. According to the book "Destined to Die Young" by Sally Hoedel, everything came from a dark heredity. His mother Gladys parents were first cousins. This produced an Alpha 1 double gene that sealed Elvis fate, not only did he inherit the health problems from her side but would die an early death just like his mother did at 46 and her two brothers who also died in their mid 40's. Because of heart disease, Liver disease and Lung problems, (COPD) when Elvis was born in 1935 along side his dead twin brother Jesse Garron he already had a twisted colon and was thin and weak. There wasn't much medical care in the height of the depression and they were so poor. He didn't sleep and was developing a weak immune system. By his late 20's he had emergency surgery to save his right eye from blindness because of early on set Glaucoma. He needed the glasses. It had become necessary to use an inhaler both before and after performances. His doctor Nick was traveling with him and administered pain pills for his insomnia medication and uppers to wake him up. In the early 70's his Liver started deteriorating and wasn't filtering out toxins and was causing bloating in his stomach face and hands. He was given steroids which made it worse. In 1975 Hair dresser Larry Geller said Elvis had a mind heart attack in his presence and wanted it kept quiet. He would go on to have at least 3 heart attacks before the final one that killed him. Sally Hoedel said had Elvis never taken a drug he would have still died in his 40's. Out of the 11 systems of the body, 9 of his were completely blocked. He had an enlarged heart and arthritis. What is obvious now, the prescription drugs he took were needed, and he wanted all his health problems kept quiet. He often said, "I don't think I'll live a long life, that's why I have to do what I can now". The truth is Learned, not told.

Got bless these Elvis fans. My wife is heavily involved in going to shows for bands that she follows, so I can understand the passion. I had listened to lots of music, ie Stones, Who, Beatles, Sam Cooke, Buddy Holly, Dylan, Simon, Zevon, etc, but IMHO there is one musician that stands far above anyone else, and that is Martin David Robinson (AKA Marty Robbins). He had it all. One of the best if the best voice in C and W. And the amazing songs that he wrote by himself over a broad range of styles and stories. And of course, his amazing life that he led, which I won't go into. So it is great to have a favorite. RIP Marty, you were the great singer/songwriter of all time. Even Pete Townshend wrote a song to honor you and Merle Haggard named one of his sons after you. As Keith Urban said, "he really was the coolest guy."

Respect Dean. He is doing his interpretation of the song rather than strictly following the script. Yes, it is more Donny Osmond than Elvis. But that is completely cool.
